Moved to a new town: it's called Web 2.0. It has all the comforts of a small town, but all the perks of a big city.
Now I need to meet some friends and followers. It's only my first day living here and I don't have a single friend or follower, but soon I hope to be surrounded by lots of diverse, interesting friends. I wonder how I find people here? I think I'll email my friend, Cindi Rockett. She moved in last year, and she already knows the ropes. I don't want to harrass her, but if I don't take a risk and ask questions, I'll just sit here all alone, fearful and friendless. It's better to risk looking stupid than to wander aimlessly, isn't it?
Hope someone moves in next door soon.

New in Town
The biggest challenge for me in my two new technology endevors:
1. Starting my MS in Technology Ed.
2. "23 Things"
is locating where things are. I'll "Find" something great, like a website, the campus virtual library, or my friends on Twitter; and then I can't "Find" them back.
It has been kind of like moving to a new town where you constantly have to ask directions to find something. Then you find it, but the next time you get ready to go there, you can't find it back. Good thing I'm a woman. I have no embarrassment about asking for directions.

PS- Does Web 2.0 have a GPS available yet?

2.0 Notes & Thougths
Web 2.0 is a fairly new term created by O'Reilly in October 2004; the term was used by Dale Daughtery, and the concept was envisioned by net guru Tim Burner Lee. What makes it different from Web 1.0 is its evolution from being an isolated, central authority network to a social, democratic, adaptable somatic environment. Specific popular sites arising from Web 2.0 include Google Accents, Flickr2, Tangler, Google Maps, Dig, Technocratic (my personal favorite name), Podcast.net, and Blogger.com.
The beauty in Web 2.0 lies in its more dynamic, sophisticated, simplistic, re-mixable architecture. No longer is there a central "Expert" out there; now plain folk like you and I can create, use, educate, and liberate ourselves and one another. It is has evolved in exactly the same way our educational system, and in fact, our entire society has/is evolving by moving from "Teacher is expert, Teacher is in charge", to "We are in this together, We (students, teachers, parents, staff) are co-learners, co-producers, co-leaders"
I love what our society is becoming. I love what education is moving towards. I love what Web 2.0 is enabling us, as a society to become.
History of Web 2.0 by Me. Bet it sounds a bit like some of the essays I grade and consequently lol about when I realize how some of the kids have a limited understanding of the general whole, and when they try to explain it, well; it just can be comical. For example: one writer when explaining Milton's works wrote, "Milton wrote "Paradise Lost" soon after he got married. After his divorce, he wrote "Paradise Regained".
